To us, ecodesign means creating sustainable products that combine functionality, aesthetics, and affordability to appeal to the mass market. With a thoughtful design strategy, we believe ecological responsibility and commercial success can seamlessly coexist.

Thut Möbel is known for its iconic folding curtain, used as both a wardrobe door and a room divider. In the made-to-measure production process, numerous offcuts of the aluminium profile accumulate—high-quality material with untapped potential.
Together with the Thut team, we developed Garderobe 125, a wall-mounted coat rack created directly from these leftover profile sections. Combined with 3D-printed hooks, the result is a product that feels unmistakably Thut: precise, efficient, and adaptable by design.
At a time when overproduction defines large parts of the furniture industry, Garderobe 125 proposes a different approach. By transforming existing profiles into a functional, durable product, the project demonstrates how thoughtful design can extend the life of materials already in use. Rather than starting from new resources, value is created through rethinking what is already available.
Garderobe 125 reinforces Thut’s long-standing commitment to intelligent, resource-conscious construction—showing that meaningful products can emerge from constraints, not despite them.

For IWB, the energy, water, and telecommunications provider of Basel, we developed the design for their innovative Nanoverbund system. This shared heating solution optimizes energy use, reduces costs, and supports the transition to renewable energy sources, offering immediate benefits for users and the environment. Our design strategy aimed to turn the technical installation into an appealing, product-like system that enhances usability and simplifies marketing. By making the technology more accessible and attractive, we help increase its adoption and amplify its positive environmental impact. To minimize resources, we developed the housing directly from the required insulation panels, eliminating the need for additional materials while ensuring optimal thermal efficiency. This integration of form and function reflects our commitment to sustainable design. In early 2025, the IWB Nanoverbund was awarded the prestigious Watt d’Or by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, recognizing its innovative approach to energy efficiency and sustainability.

As part of SWISS’s sustainability strategy, we transformed components from the retired Airbus A321 “HB-IOC” into a distinctive upcycling collection. The result: functional and beautifully designed objects such as wall hooks, luggage tags, keychains, side tables, and more—perfect for travel, everyday use, or home. The challenge was to craft products that not only meet high design standards but also align seamlessly with SWISS’s premium brand identity. Each item carries a piece of the aircraft’s story, extending its lifecycle while connecting users to the airline’s heritage. This collection demonstrates how thoughtful design can turn retired materials into meaningful objects that resonate with functionality, emotion, and the SWISS brand ethos.

The ‘Less Tarp’ project aimed to explore new possibilities for FREITAG products by reducing the reliance on truck tarps as the primary material, incorporating alternatives like PET. In close collaboration with FREITAG’s internal design team, we developed a comprehensive set of design details, material combinations, and components. This „toolbox“ ensures that even with less tarp, the products remain unmistakably FREITAG. Using the guidelines we co-created, FREITAG launched the ‘Reflected’ collection—a testament to how the brand’s identity extends beyond its iconic truck tarp. This new line represents a contemporary evolution of FREITAG’s design language, paving the way to attract a broader audience while staying true to the brand’s essence.

The founders of Monopole set out to create a bike that redefines urban mobility—a compact and versatile tool for transporting almost anything. Their vision was to revolutionize how people move through cities by combining functionality with an innovative design. We supported Monopole in developing an iconic frame geometry that departs from conventional bike design. With its clean right angles, the frame signals a new type of bicycle, offering a fresh riding experience that stands apart from traditional models. At just 1.9 meters long, the Toolbike No 01 is compact and agile. Its straightforward frame design, integrated battery, and multifunctional capabilities break away from the bulky e-cargo bike category. Instead, it blends the practicality of a cargo bike, the nimbleness of a city bike, and the convenience of an e-bike—making it the perfect companion for all urban mobility needs.

The design process for this unique piece was driven by experimentation, leading to the discovery of a fascinating lighting effect. Invisible LEDs project light onto the inner surface of the fixture, where it reflects and creates radiant, beam-like patterns. This interaction results in a soft, indirect illumination that enhances the ambiance of any space. Crafted entirely from spun aluminum, N.V.L. is assembled without adhesives or screws, ensuring ease of disassembly for seamless recycling. Its bold design makes it ideal for spaces where lighting plays a key role in shaping the atmosphere—whether in bars, restaurants, hotels, or residential interiors.
